Well Ordinance 2004 - 2005

Early on the County of Volusia recognized the need and concern for protecting our limited underground water supply. It was noted that more than ½ of the public water supply in Florida was used to maintaining landscaping. To enable the protection of that supply the county enacted an ordinance to require the use of “Water Wise Landscape Irrigation Practices”.  That Ordinance is managed by the Volusia County Health Department Environmental Health Division and is enforced in the Incorporated and Unincorporated areas of the county.
