The Daytona Field Office is one of five counties statewide participating in a State sponsored beachwater sampling program. The results of this program are posted in the Daytona Beach News Journal on a routine basis.

The majority of our work in the onsite sewage program is the permitting of existing system repairs. This office has encouraged connection to city sewer whenever possible in these problem areas.

The Environmental Health Engineering Section is responsible for the following programs: Public Drinking Water, Public Swimming Pools, Waterwise, Well Permitting and Irrigation Systems.

The DeLand office is extremely involved in numerous Environmental Health Programs that affect this area. Among the most prominent are: onsite sewage program, swimming pools and spas, food hygiene, and indoor air.

The one activity or service that sets the New Smyrna Beach Office apart from the three other field offices is the aerobic treatment unit program. In 1990, the Volusia County Counsel passed an ordinance, which requires ATUs to be utilized near the river instead of septic tanks.

8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Saturdays or Sundays
1:00 PM to 4:00 PM
(NOTE: samples should be
delivered no later than 2:00 PM
for same day analysis.)

The laboratory is National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP) certified (E23111). Being State certified allows the data provided by the laboratory to be used in court to support regulatory and enforcement actions, if necessary.

The Laboratory is certified by the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) Bureau of Laboratories Certification Program to perform analyses for the Safe Drinking Water Act and Clean Water Act.
