First Annual Ability Fair to Be Held July 26th in Orange City
Sponsored by the Home Depot of Orange City, in collaboration with UCP of East Central Florida and the City of Deltona Citizen Accessibility Advisory Sub-Committee Members
This one day event will provide an opportunity for the community to come together and see what resources are available in times of need. The Ability Fair will emphasize independence, self-sufficiency, volunteerism, and community awareness. Companies and organizations will come together on Saturday, July 26, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Orange City Home Depot on 2300 Veterans Memorial in Orange City (32763).
The Ability Fair will offer the community a day of information and learning. There will be presentations on a variety of topics including "how to install a hand rail", "building a wheelchair ramp", "ADA requirements", and much more. We’d like you to be a part of it too.
Information booths will be available for organizations and companies that want to share their knowledge or information. Demonstrations and presentations which are consistent with the theme of the Ability Fair are encouraged. Space is limited and free to the first 50 that respond. Americans with Disabilities Act, Title I, Employment Seminar
Come to this seminar and learn your rights, and know your employer's obligations. This is a great seminar for anyone with a disability who is employed or seeking employment... It will also be valuable information for employers!
The seminar is on July 31st, 2008 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the office of disAbility Solutions, Inc. disAbilty Soluations is located at 119 S. Palmetto Ave., Suite 180 in downtown Daytona.

Guest Speakers: - Dr. James Greene will speak on communicable disease (symptoms and prevention). - Christina Quarterman from Dr. Quarterman's office will speak on issues related to dental health. - Dr. George Ehringer will speak on causes and complications related to obesity. - Registered Dietician Melissa Baumann will speak on causes and complications of diabetes.

Quit Smoking Now Classes Announced
Quit Smoking Now classes are set to begin on July 30, 2008 in New Smyrna at the Visitor Center on SR 44 from 2 to 4 p.m. and at Daytona Beach College's Daytona Campus in Building 50, Room 108 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Classes will also be held in Edgewater beginning August 7th from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Edgewater Public Library.

Volusia County Sheriff's Office 5k Fun Run/Walk on September 21st, 2008
The Volusia County Sheriff's Office Charity Committee will be hosting a 5k Fun Run/Walk on September 21st, 2008. The proceeds from this event will be donated to the Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranches.
